kira_pulliam_cnmKira attributes her inspiration and passion for women’s healthcare to her aunt, who was a labor and delivery nurse for many years. She knew as early as age five that she wanted to become a “baby nurse” and the seed was planted. Kira spent her childhood years in southeast Virginia and then moved to southeast Alabama with her family. She completed course work at University of South Alabama and her clinical rotations at Troy University, graduating with her BSN in 2000.

Kira began her work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama and several years later relocated to Newnan, Georgia where she continued to work labor and delivery for several years, including a year as a traveling nurse in California. Her experiences confirmed a lifelong decision that women were entitled to childbirth options and she believed that she could help women make informed healthcare decisions, especially in the area of pregnancy. Kira is passionate about helping women become mothers and providing settings for safe delivery for every woman.

Kira enrolled in the nurse midwifery program at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga and completed her MSN degree while also working labor and delivery for an area hospital.

Kira relocated to Virginia where she married Greg in 2008. She began her midwifery career working for a private practice in Suffolk, VA and in 2009 she received midwifery care during her own pregnancy and delivery of her son.

While living in Virginia, Kira was a member of the Midwifery teams at Langley Air Force Base and Portsmouth Naval Medical Center before she and her family relocated to the Richmond, VA area. She accepted a position at Southside Regional Medical Center in the nursery, working there until the family made the decision to move further south. They decided on Georgia because of job opportunities and proximity to family.

Kira and her family live in LaGrange. Her husband is employed at Fort Benning and her son is a second grader at a local elementary school. They love their church and are becoming actively involved in their church, school and community. Kira and her family enjoy traveling, gardening and outdoor activities together and spending time at home with their dogs and a cat who is the coolest cat ever.

Kira joined the Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare team in July 2016. She is also a facilitator for Centering Pregnancy, a local group prenatal care program. Kira believes and lives every day convinced that “every mom has a right to the delivery that is best for her and safest for her baby.” It is with this in mind that Kira is proud to be a team member at Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare, all working together to partner with women and provide the best possible care for mothers and their babies.
