Every month, Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare features one of our team members on our blog. Meet Laura Griffaw, MSN, CNM!
Laura grew up in the cornfields of Northwest Ohio. It was there that she met and married her husband. She graduated in 1996 from Lourdes University with her BSN, RN. She always loved working in Labor and Delivery and did so for 8 years.
In 1998, Laura had her first child. Although she had much of what she wanted from his birth, she knew things could have been different. When she became pregnant with her second son, she sought out midwifery care. She had amazing involvement with her midwife during prenatal care and delivery.
Because of this experience, she followed her passion and attended Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery. In 2005, she earned a MSN, CNM and welcomed her third child with a water birth – a truly empowering experience.
This experience led her to Fort Myers, FL where Laura gained out-of-hospital birth wisdom. She cherished each of the births she attended in Fort Myers; but needing to return to Ohio for her extended family, began to work in a private practice in 2007.
In October 2012, Laura was drawn to Georgia. Her and her family wanted something different. They fell in love with Peachtree City, and her church home.
She has been a member of the Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare team since her relocation.
What you may not know about Laura is that she loves reading historical fiction and has an adorable Goldendoodle named Samantha.
She is very active in her church, especially youth group activities. She relishes time with her three children.
One of her most memorable moments as a Nurse Midwife was delivering her niece – it was such an amazing and memorable experiences.
Laura is so happy to be part of the SCWH team and doing work she loves!
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
