Meet SCWH Physician Deborah Shepard, MD, FACOG

Every month, Southern Crescent Women’s HealthCare features one of our team members here on our website. Meet SCWH Physician Deborah Shepard, MD, FACOG.

Dr. Deborah Shepard relocated from a Florida practice to join the Southern Crescent team of physicians in 2010. She attended Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, for her undergraduate degree and completed her Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She received her Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her obstetric and gynecology residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.

Dr. Shepard respects and appreciates that today’s women play a large role in their own health and she is committed to meeting the diverse needs of each patient. You may see her at SCWH for a variety of medical or surgical procedures. She specializes in treatment of bleeding issues, da Vinci robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, menopausal changes, Essure, HTA endometrial ablation and infertility, as well as complete obstetric care for low or high-risk pregnancies.

When Dr. Shepard is not working, she fills her free time with yoga, DIY projects, remodeling houses, gardening, and cooking. You may spot her at the local farmers market or out for a bike ride or swim. Her loves include spending time with family and friends, traveling, enjoying what nature has to offer, and trying new things. In fact, Dr. Shepard has wrestled an alligator in Florida and got to see the Queen of England! One small self-proclaimed fact: Dr. Shepard says she cannot sing so don’t expect a ballad in the delivery room (or anywhere else)!

One of Dr. Shepard’s most memorable experiences in her career is being the Chairman at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. One of her most moving experiences is having a patient comeback after a fetal loss to deliver her next baby.

Dr. Shepard believes in the mantra “This too shall pass”. It helps her to step out of the way of God to allow him to manage the end results and allows her to not hold too tightly to the results or present situation.

Dr. Shepard’s favorite quote is:
