Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) hosts an annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

This year, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 27th from 10am – 2pm.

There are drop off locations near all SCWH offices. This is a free service offered nationwide and is available in the community. To find a collection site near you, click here.

According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health*, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Please take advantage of this day and share this to improve safety, decrease overdose deaths, encourage proper disposal of medications and respect environmental safety.
