Piedmont Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia (Anthem/Blue Cross)

Piedmont Healthcare is in discussions with Anthem/Blue Cross on a new contract that covers physician and hospital services provided to its commercial members. As a member of the Piedmont Clinic, these negotiations impact Southern Crescent Women’s HealthCare Providers.

Piedmont began discussions with Anthem/Blue Cross in September 2017 to allow both organizations adequate time to reach a new agreement and reduce the chance of disruption of care to our patients.

The current contract ends on March 31, 2018. For now, nothing changes for patients with Anthem/Blue Cross commercial health insurance. Patients with Anthem/Blue Cross health plans may continue to visit Piedmont facilities and physicians as they normally would. However, if Piedmont is unable to reach a new agreement with Anthem/Blue Cross by March 31, 2018, Piedmont facilities (with the exception of Piedmont Rockdale and Piedmont Columbus Regional) and Piedmont Clinic physicians will be considered out-of-network providers for all Anthem/Blue Cross members beginning April 1, 2018.

Please note: This information does not impact Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plans, except at Piedmont Newton Hospital.
