Maria, the clinical director for SCWH, was born and raised in Vero Beach, FL. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with summa cum laude honors from Florida State University in 1996. After working as a labor and delivery nurse, Maria relocated to the Atlanta area to attend graduate school. She was accepted to Emory University as a Woodruff scholar in August 1999 and graduated from Emory University in May 2001.
She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing with a minor in teaching and education. She was honored with the Clinical Excellence award for her graduating class. Maria is certified as both a nurse midwife and a family nurse practitioner. Prior to joining SCWH, Maria has worked with general OB/GYN, infertility and maternal fetal medicine specialties. Maria feels honored to be part of the SCWH team caring for women and their families in this community. She is passionate about obstetrics, especially high risk pregnancy.
Maria lives in the Peachtree City area with her husband, 3 daughters, and their dog. She enjoys crafting, baking, reading, camping, traveling, running, and is actively involved in her church.
